Executive Director joins peace walk and tree plantation in Gujranwala

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21st September. The UN General Assembly has declared the theme for the year 2020 as “Shaping Peace Together” which is complimented by Caritas Pakistan through its work and commitment towards its slogan “Together We Proceed”.
 
Mr. Amjad Gulzar (Executive Director) joined Caritas Pakistan Lahore (CPL) to observe the day in collaboration with National Commission for justice and peace (NCJP) by gathering more than 100 participants including students of St. Mary’s School and local community members.
 
Fr. Bernard Emmanuel Diocesan Director NCJP led the peace rally with other guests. Clergy members and Gujranwala Divisional Chairman of peace committee Qari Muhammad Saleem Zahid urged on the need of Interfaith harmony. The candle was illuminated as to symbolizes harmony and pigeons were set freed to mark peace and freedom.
 
The concept of social harmony is boosted through awareness session conducted by Mr. Rafiq Inayat (Project Officer CPL) followed by Peace Rally at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, Gujranwala and plantation of 10 saplings with a wish for growth of social harmony in society as the tree grows.
