Caritas Pakistan Lahore joins diocesan commission for Peace Day

Motorway police in Punjab and clerics celebrated Peace Day with Lahore Archdiocese on Sept. 21 at St. Anthony’s High School. More than 200 attended the event jointly organized by Diocesan commission including Caritas Pakistan Lahore. A delegation of motorway police shared road safety precautions with the participants.

Inspector Muhammad Saleem joined clerics and priests in planting olive tree and releasing the pigeons following the recitation of Quran and Peace Prayer of Saint Francis. Archbishop Sebastian Shaw lit the peace candle and led the 15 minutes meditation on forgiveness and spirituality of peace. Songs and videos on peace were also aired.

“We gathered to give peace a new form as instructed by Pope Francis. We don’t consider anyone as our enemy. We shall promote the culture of human dignity. We thank our commission and Pope Francis for teaching the new ways,” said Archbishop Shaw.
