The Teacher’s Training & Staff Capacity Building Workshop on Non-Formal Education was conducted to enhance the teaching skills of educators working in non-formal and multi-grade classrooms. The training, held under the project Empowering Communities: Water, Education, and Livelihood Support for Afghan Refugees and Jaranwala’s Community in Pakistan, 2025, aimed to address challenges in teaching students affected by conflict and natural disasters.
The primary objective of the workshop was to strengthen teachers’ capacities to improve education quality in non-formal settings, including challenges in non-formal education, multi-grade classroom management, psychosocial support for trauma-affected students, and the use of low-cost teaching aids. Teachers were also introduced to methods for mainstreaming students into formal education and maintaining student progress records. Participants engaged in group activities, discussions on curriculum adaptation, and techniques for classroom management.
The benefits of the workshop include enhanced teaching strategies, improved classroom management skills, and better integration of life skills into education. Participants gained practical knowledge on handling behavioral challenges in trauma-affected children and implementing flexible timetables in multi-grade classrooms. The training fostered collaboration and empowered teachers to create effective learning environments, ultimately contributing to better educational outcomes for vulnerable communities.
