Reflection Sessions on Floods in Pakistan

As the annual monsoon downpour hits the country, Caritas Pakistan teams organized real life reflection sessions in different cities.

Diocesan staff from Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad joined National Secretariat for EA 21 reflection session in Rawalpindi on August 21, 2020. Caritas Pakistan Karachi also organized a session with Staffs on Pakistan Flood Response on 21st of August at CPK office in seaport city where Monsoon rains have flooded homes and roads.

For the first time in history, Caritas Pakistan responded to two flood emergencies last year. The session included review of policies regarding Emergencies Response Team, suggestions for gender sensitization, criteria of area selection and a technical session.

Mr. Aneel Mushtaq Executive Secretary Caritas Pakistan Faisalabad lauded role of volunteers in dealing with disasters. People look forward to Carias when facing emergencies, he said.

“The lessons learnt and post operation evaluation will help us in formulating new ways of planning to deal with the current urban flooding in Karachi where the development issues have emerged amid current Monsoon season,” said Mr. Amjad Gulzar Executive Director Caritas Pakistan.
