Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment in South Punjab

Caritas Pakistan Multan CPM conducted Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment on February 8 at 121 DRB, UC Drawar District Bahawalpur. Mr. Ambrose Gill, Project Coordinator and his team assisted the community who participated in a large number. Both males and female attended the workshop on focusing on hazard levels, frequencies and capacities of them to be developed. They also prepared detailed hazard maps based on the village geography.

On Feb 7, CPM conducted Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment at Hakim Wala, UC Rangpur District Muzaffargar. Mr. Amir Yaqoob,  Project Coordinator and his team assisted the community who participated in a large number. Mr. Samuel Clement , Executive Secretary  also participated.

“We analyzed variables and parameters of base categories; hazard, vulnerability and capacity to assist the locals in disaster risk management and decision-making. We hope it helps reducing the impacts of annual floods in the area,” said Mr. Ambrose.
