Monsoon Preparedness Session with DMCs in Karachi

Following prediction of 30% more rains in Sindh province during the monsoon period, Caritas Pakistan Karachi under Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRM) project organized the monsoon preparedness sessions on 4th of July, 2020.

Disaster Management Committees DMC members from Shahbaz Goth, Yousaf Goth, Holy Mary, Kousar Niazai and Sadaq Nagar participated. The objective of the session were to aware the DMCS members about taking percussion measures and preparing themselves for effective and efficient emergency response plan to reduce the impact of disaster and save life of the people and possible losses in case of heavy rain and urban flood.

Mr. Sarfraz Anwar talked about preparedness of PRE, POST and AFTER a disaster and saving important documents. Children must be kept indoor all the time during rain and floods, he said referring to the report of Pakistan Meteorological MET Department. Mr. Mansha Noor, Executive Secretary CPK congratulated the participants for being front line heroes in disaster management for saving people and their belongings by creating awareness and leading them to build their capacities to cope with disasters.
