WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2017
We all can contribute to environment adapting in daily lives said by Executive Director Mr. Amjad Gulzar. On 5th June 2017 Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat staff celebrated World environment day under the heat of 50 centigrade, with the theme “Connecting people to the nature”.
Mr. Estephen David provided introduction of environment and efforts ofCaritas Pakistan mainstreaming to the programs. Caritas Pakistan has long history of working for environment conservation directly or indirectly. After the encyclical of Holy Father it is one of our religious obligation as well.
Mr. Nadeem Yousaf explained the Theme for World Environment Day 2017 and said “Along with heat wave change of average rain fall pattern lead us toward drought and food insecurity, The day is observed to highlight a range of environmental problems, including climate change, waste management, unsustainable consumption, degradation of natural resources and extreme natural disasters” Said Nadeem Yousaf – National coordinator Disaster risk reduction
Mr. Amjad Gulzar Executive Director Caritas Pakistan expressed his view “Caritas Pakistan has been making efforts to contribute to environments for three decades, there had been solid waste management program, one tree plantation campaign for better environment in 2013, incorporation in agriculture and livelihood programs. We have Adopted the easiest way to reduce the challenges to climate change is to plant local trees species. To combat climate change and support Sustainable development goalCaritas Pakistan Officially launched one million tree plantation Campaign on 14 December, 2016 with an aim to plant one million plants in the upcoming years by 2019, more than 41,000 trees has been planted.
