11th Annual Children Assembly

Caritas Pakistan successfully organized 11th Annual Children’s Assembly on December 2-3, 2024, at Boland Hall, Bishop House in Multan. The gathering brought together teachers, students, and community leaders, providing a platform for open dialogue and collaboration aimed at advancing educational practices and empowering children.

The assembly began with a moment of reflection through an opening prayer, followed by a warm welcome and introductions. Mr. Samuel Clement, the Diocesan Executive Secretary, shared heartfelt opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of innovative approaches in education.

Mr. Amjad Gulzar, the Executive Director of Caritas Pakistan, delivered an insightful keynote address, outlining the assembly’s goals and highlighting the vision of empowering children through progressive educational methods. Throughout the event, participants were engaged in various activities that aligned with the assembly’s objectives. A key highlight was the interactive learning stations, where both teachers and students participated in hands-on activities designed to promote collaborative learning. This allowed participants to explore new teaching strategies, enhancing the educational experience for all involved.

One of the most meaningful components of the event was the reflective sessions, where both teachers and students were encouraged to share their experiences and perspectives. A plenary session on children’s education provided a platform for all to discuss the challenges and opportunities in the educational setting. His Excellency Bishop Yousaf Sohan delivered a keynote address, reminding everyone of the shared responsibility to prioritize and support quality education for children.

The assembly concluded with an epilogue address by Mr. Amjad Gulzar, who provided a thoughtful summary of the discussions and outlined future commitments. Mr. Samuel Clement offered the closing remarks, expressing sincere gratitude to all participants for their valuable contributions and reaffirming Caritas Pakistan’s commitment to fostering inclusive and impactful education.

Workshop on CI – Toolkit & Core Humanitarian Standards

Caritas Pakistan successfully organized a workshop on November 22, 2024, to enhance participants’ understanding and capacity in emergency response planning, coordination, and management within the framework of Caritas Internationalis. The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of key components required for effective emergency response, beginning with an introduction to the Caritas Internationalis Tool Kit. Participants were oriented on critical aspects of preparedness, including risk identification, capacity assessment, and organizational coordination in line with global standards such as the Sphere Handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Participants were educated on pre- and post-emergency actions, including monitoring early warning indicators, conducting rapid needs assessments, and sectoral evaluations. Collaboration with Caritas Internationalis through situation reports and response formulation was emphasized. The workshop also covered response mechanisms, such as activating support systems and coordinating interventions with Caritas Internationalis member organizations.

Mr. Amjad Gulzar, Executive Director of Caritas Pakistan, highlighted the importance of effective crisis management and reinforced the need for continuous collaboration and preparedness to ensure a rapid and coordinated response during emergencies. The workshop concluded with practical insights that equipped participants with the necessary tools to manage crises in alignment with Caritas Internationalis’ standards.

Organizational Development Workshop

The Organizational Development Workshop, held on December 14-15, 2024, focused on addressing key programmatic, financial, and operational strategies for organizational growth and sustainability. The event began with an opening session directed by Mr. Amjad Gulzar Executive Director of Caritas Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of strengthening organizational capabilities. Day 1 included discussions on programmatic requirements, draft agreements, and the introduction of the Component Information Management System (CIMS), which was presented by Mr. Amir Irfan & Mr. Jacob Inayat to streamline operations in various sectors. Day 2 commenced with a deliberation session followed by detailed discussions on finance requirements.

The workshop successfully provided insights into HR, and program management, and fostered collaboration among participants to create strategic solutions for organizational development.
