Distribution of food and free mask continues


Mr. Amjad Gulzar Executive Director Caritas Pakistan joined Caritas Pakistan Lahore team in distributing ration bags among 53 people on May 23 at Mariam Sadiqa Town in Gujranwala. The families can sustain for 15 to 20 days with this dry ration support. The affected families had lost their livelihood amid coronavirus-induced lockdown.

CPL team also distributed face masks and awareness material for COVID-19 prevention among beneficiaries. The event was part of the Laudato Si’ Week that concluded this Sunday.

Mr. Naeem Naz (Diocesan Program Coordinator CPL) and Rafiq Inayat (Project Officer CPL) conducted awareness session on hand washing. Father Bernard Emmanuel Parish Priest, Father Samran and rosary group joined Caritas staff in planting trees in the Church compound.

“We thank Pope Francis, Father gee and Caritas for providing us food in tough times. I can’t go for labour due to problem in walking abnormalities,” said Boota Masih who suffers from Asthama for the past five years.

In Karachi, Caritas Pakistan team also distributed 25 food packages among the daily wagers at Sadiq Nagar area of St. Philip’s Parish on 26th of May, 2020. Mr. Mansha Noor Executive Secretary CPK, John Rehmat (program Coordinator) and others distributed food among needy families with help of the teachers of Non formal Education School managed by CPK in the port city.

In Hyderabad, Caritas Pakistan distributed food packages among 61 COVID-19 lock-down affected households on May 20 at St. Paul Church compound district Sanghar. Fr. Qaiser William Parish Priest, Executive Secretary Mr. Manshad Asghar and Mukhtar Gill (Program Coordinator) and volunteers distributed food packages and IEC material.

“We hope the food hampers will help daily wagers in feed their families. The families can sustain for 15 to 20 days with this dry ration support,” said Mr. Amjad Gulzar Executive Director Caritas Pakistan.
