Inauguration Ceremony of National Community Development Course – 4th Batch

Inaugural ceremony of One month National Community Development Course (NCDC) 4th batch was held on June 1, 2018 at Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat. Rev. Fr. Francis Gulzar (Vicar General – Archdiocese of Lahore) celebrated the Holy Mass at the start of inauguration ceremony. Mr. Amjad Gulzar (National Executive Director – Caritas Pakistan), Rev. Fr. Francis Gulzar, All Diocesan Executive Secretaries and some alumnus cut the ribbon to unveil this course. The kickoff event was attended by Caritas Pakistan staff and NCDC participants, which included priests, nuns, interns, students and staff from Salvation Army.

Mr. Amir Irfan presented the introduction of Caritas Pakistan and its intervention for the community development. Mr. Amer Anwar (National Coordinator – WASH & Peace Program) delivered overview of NCDC. This course will run for one month and will cover different modules like social mobilization, communication, project management, climate change, leadership and conflict management.

Fauzia and Naeem, the two alumnus of NCDC shared their personal experiences of this course and its benefits in community work. A documentary video of NCDC was shown to the participants. All the Diocesan Executive Secretaries expressed their views regarding this NCDC course and encouraged all the participants to learn and share with commitment.

Mr. Amjad Gulzar expressed that it is vision to capacitate Christian youth, build new leadership and provide learning opportunities through this course. He motivated the participants to be on their toes as this is the time of competition and all must learn with zeal & zest for their development. Mr. Amjad officially announced the commencement of 4th batch of National Community Development Course.

Rev. Fr. Francis Gulzar urged participants to identify their talents and polish them to be productive. He also added that participants of the NCDC have the great opportunity to learn new skills, which will enable them to contribute well for community development at large.

After the inaugural ceremony, participants introduced themselves and drew different images like tree, sun, flower, fish, nature and candle and briefly described their own personality, likes and dislikes. Mr. Nadeem Yousaf summed up this session that we must try to adopt maximum type of personalities when we are going to work with community. We added that we must not look down upon anyone as everyone has its own qualities.
