CARITAS PAKISTAN MARKS INDEPENDENCE DAY WITH TREE PLANTATION

As part of Independence Day celebration in productive manner, Caritas
Pakistan organized tree plantation drives under its “One Million Tree
Plantation Campaign” which emphasizes environmental sustainability through
tree plantation in all over Pakistan. More than 7000 plants were planted on
different locations including Lahore, Changa Manga, Narowal, Multan and
Faisalabad.

The tree plantation drive started by Mr. Amjad Gulzar, Executive Director
from Lahore by planting a fruit plant at Caritas Pakistan National
Secretariat while Caritas team members were also planting trees in other
parts of the Country. The ceremony started with the National Anthem where
Diocesan Executive Secretaries from Karachi, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Multan
also ensured their participation along with their staff members. “Trees are
the part of our natural environment and the best way to celebrate
Independence Day is by planting a tree because this is the best gift we can
give to our future generation” – Said Mr. Amjad Gulzar

After that Caritas Pakistan Team Participated in “Ten Thousand Trees in Ten
Minutes” event organized by Punjab Forest Department at Changa Manga; Mr.
Amjad Gulzar, Mr. Samuel Clement joined by Caritas Pakistan staff,
Government officials and volunteers ensured their participation. “There is
great need to plant more trees to combat the challenges of climate change.
Our Million Tree Plantation Campaign is also contributing in the mission to
save the mother earth. I take this opportunity to urge Caritas Pakistan
staff, volunteers and stakeholders at the time of Independence Day to plant
trees for greener and brighter future of Pakistan by planting more trees” –
Caritas Pakistan Chairman Bishop Benny Travas Message shared during the
ceremony at Changa Manga.

The day concluded with the Milli Nagma (Patriotic Song) jointly sung by
Caritas Pakistan “Hum Zinda Qoum Hain, Painda Qoum hain – Hum sabki hain
pehchan, hum sabka Pakistan”. Caritas Pakistan accentuated to plant more
trees because it is a good way to mitigate humanity’s effect on climate and
provide us clean environment.
