Sendai Framework Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Assistance Training for Caritas Pakistan Team.

Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat organized workshop on Sendai Framework (SFDRR – 2015-2030) and Humanitarian Assistance Principles on August 14-16, 2018. This training was attended by diocesan Executive Secretaries of all diocesan units, DRR (Disaster Risk Reduction) Team and ERT (Emergency Response Team) members with respect to get the in-depth knowledge of Sendai Framework. The training was facilitated by Mr. Falak Nawaz and Mr. Shafi from National Disaster Management Practitioners.

The aim was to have awareness about the scope and purpose, priority for actions at local, national, regional and global level, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders, implementation of Sendai Framework and its progress in Pakistan. Humanitarian Assistance Principles in reference of World Humanitarian Summit were also discussed during the training.

“As Caritas Pakistan team is actively engaged in DRR and preparedness related interventions in different hazard prone districts of the Pakistan, and this workshop and knowledge of SFDRR and World Humanitarian Summit will be an additional advantage to learn and reflect the working in the field. I want that our organization should work with more dedication and commitment for the better society through our actions and responses,” Mr. Amjad Gulzar, Executive director, Caritas Pakistan.

It was concluded by defining the mechanism, strategies, role and responsibilities of shelter and WASH working committees. Certificates were given to the participants to appreciate their hardwork.
