Water Conference
The Water Conference commenced with an introduction of participants, including the Executive Director, Executive Secretaries, Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat staff, students, and interns. Ms. Rabia Tariq, Program Coordinator, officially inaugurated the session. Executive Director Mr. Amjad Gulzar welcomed attendees and emphasized the critical role of water in our lives, highlighting simple yet impactful ways to conserve it. Various speakers, including staff and interns, addressed key topics. Mr. Amir Irfan discussed the integration of agriculture and WASH, stressing sustainable practices like precision irrigation to mitigate water scarcity. Mr. Amer Anwar elaborated on sustainable water management for future generations. Ms. Sheza Patras shed light on Pakistan’s water scarcity challenges, underscoring the need for public education and innovative technologies. Â
Discussions extended to the impacts of climate change, gender inequities in water access, and emergency water management, led by Ms. Rimsha Mushtaq, Ms. Sukiana Khokhar, and Mr. Victor Samuel, respectively. Innovations in WASH, inclusive practices for marginalized communities, and hygiene education were also explored.
Executive Secretaries from various dioceses provided regional insights and advocated for sustainable solutions. Concluding the conference, Mr. Amjad Gulzar (Executive Director of CP) highlighted the interconnectedness of WASH challenges and the importance of collaboration, urging participants to apply their learnings to create impactful change in their communities.
