International Forest Day 2025

Caritas Pakistan Karachi marked the International Day of Forests by engaging with the children of landless farmers to emphasize the vital role of forests in food security, nutrition, and livelihoods.

Mr. Mansha Noor, Executive Secretary –Caritas Pakistan Karachi, highlighted that forests are not just the “lungs of the Earth” but also a major source of nourishment, providing fruits, nuts, mushrooms, and honey. He highlighted that over a billion people worldwide depend on forests for food and income, urging communities to take responsibility in preserving them.

In a practical step towards environmental stewardship, children and community members joined in planting fruit trees under the “Caritas Plantation Campaign” (CPC). This initiative aligns with Pope Francis’ Laudato Si, promoting care for our common home. The event served as a call to action to protect forests for future generations and ensure a sustainable food system for all.
