Session on Forced Conversion , early child marriage and women rights
Caritas Pakistan Karachi with the collaboration of Catholic Women Organization (CWO) jointly organized the awareness seminar with women and young girls on forced conversion, early child marriage and women rights on 12th of November, 2020 at Kausar Naizi Colony, area of St. Jude’s Parish of the Archdiocese of Karachi.
The objective of the awareness seminar was to create awareness among women partners and young girls about the forced conversion, child marriage and our legal rights in the context of Arzoo Raja Case of forced conversion and child marriage.
Sister Catherine Qasir, Coordinator CWO highlighted the role of mothers in family building. She urged for daily family prayer to spiritually strengthen our faith. Ms. Tabassum Yousaf, Advocate of High Court highlighted Rights of women as per the constitution of Pakistan 1973 and punishment for the Crimes against women. Forced marriage is the most, widespread reported crime against women in the country.
She advised the children about selecting a family member as their trusted guard report any hint of bad touch. She also advise them to remember the phone numbers of family members in case of emergency. She also advised the mothers to become friends with their daughters and share their problems and ensure quality education of the children.
Mr. Mansha Noor, Executive Secretary urged all to share the learning with others. We must fixed time for daily family prays and commitment with ourselves to provide equally rights of education and opportunity to our young girls for education and other rights, he said quoting St. Mother Teresa.
“The family that prays together, stays together, and if they stay together they will love one another as God loved each one of them.”
