Awareness Raising and Capacity Building for National, District, and Local Project Staff on Gender and Safeguarding
On 8 November 2025, Caritas Pakistan organized session on “Awareness Raising and Capacity Building for National, District, and Local Project Staff on Gender and Safeguarding.” Held at the Auditorium-Renewal Centre in Youhanabad, Lahore, the session brought together staff members from various levels to strengthen their understanding of gender mainstreaming and safeguarding. The training was facilitated by Mr. Amir Irfan and featured Dr. Humera Amin as the keynote presenter, whose expertise as a researcher and author added significant depth to the discussions.


Dr. Humera delivered a comprehensive multimedia presentation covering core concepts such as sex versus gender, gender roles and norms, equity and equality, intersectionality, empowerment, agency, social justice, gender justice, and the inclusion of marginalized groups. She also discussed the gender equality spectrum and introduced several gender analysis tools, including the Harvard Analytical Framework, Moser Gender Planning Framework, Gender Analysis Matrix, USAID Gender Continuum, and Problem Tree Analysis. She emphasized that these tools support effective decision-making, strengthen policy development, and enhance women’s participation and capacity within communities.
During the interactive segment, participants asked open-ended questions to deepen their understanding of the subject matter. One question focused on managing external influences, to which Dr. Humera responded by stressing the importance of self-regulation and personal discipline when navigating external stimulants. The session concluded with remarks from the Executive Director, who noted that the digital era offers new opportunities for learning, awareness, and integrating gender-sensitive approaches into development work.


The event concluded with closing remarks from the Executive Director, who emphasized that the rapidly evolving digital landscape offers significant new opportunities for continuous learning, innovation, and capacity enhancement. He reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to advancing gender-sensitive programming and strengthening safeguarding measures across all operational levels, ensuring that these principles remain integral to organizational practice.
