Tree Plantation in Sargodha and Khushab
Caritas Pakistan Islamabad/Rawalpindi contributed efficiently in supporting border tree plantation in districts of Sargodha and Khushab from 19-21st September under SAFBIN (Smallholder adaptive farming & Biodiversity Network) Program. Participants including field staff of SAFBIN program, farmer beneficiaries and other community members planted number of trees ranging up to 4600 in different villages of targeted districts.
Several types of trees were planted such as, Guava (Amrod), Jambolan (Jaman), Berries and Moringa (Sohanjana) in the bordering areas of the agriculture lands. “The purpose of planting trees on the borders is to increase the biodiversity of plants in farming lands that will also act as the wind barrier and provides protection from destruction of crops by minimizing the effects that could be faced by a farmer” said Mr. Estephan David (District Project Officer).
