Training on women and children in Disaster Situation and Response
On April 25, 2025, Caritas Pakistan National Secretariat organized a two-day training workshop aimed at enhancing the capacity of participants to address the specific needs of women and children during disasters. The workshop focused on raising awareness about the vulnerabilities faced by these groups and promoting effective and compassionate response strategies.
The sessions were facilitated by Ms. Ghazala Naeem, who led comprehensive discussions on key topics including gender-based violence, psychosocial support, referral mechanisms, and the critical role of community workers. Participants were engaged in interactive activities such as group discussions, scenario-based exercises, and action planning.
Mr. Amjad Gulzar, Executive Director of Caritas Pakistan, highlighted the importance of such initiatives, stating, “Empowering communities with knowledge and skills is essential to build resilience and ensure no one is left behind during crises.”
Ms. Ghazala Naeem encouraged participants by saying, “Your commitment to learning and serving vulnerable populations is the foundation of effective disaster response.” Ms. Ghazala Naeem thanked the participants for their active engagement and emphasized the importance of continuous collaboration and knowledge-sharing to strengthen disaster response efforts. Caritas Pakistan reiterated its dedication to building resilient communities and promised to provide ongoing support to enhance the capacity of local responders in safeguarding vulnerable populations. The event ended with a sense of empowerment among the participants, who left with a clearer understanding of how to create safer, more supportive environments for women and children in times of crisis.
