A Journey from Despair to Hope
My name is Yousaf Masih. I & my family live in Chak #240 G.B. We are 12 family members including my four children, wife, parents & four siblings. As my parents are very old aged and sick they were not able to work or earn. To fulfil all the daily basic needs only I was working as hawker and selling fruits and vegetables on the handcarts for our survival.
Caritas Pakistan Faisalabad visited our area my parish priest I came to know they are going to distribute Handcarts in our area for the neediest people. I requested him to provide this good support in this difficult situation. One day CPF came in our area and organized a Distribution Ceremony of Handcarts where I got my hand cart by the blessed hands of His Excellency Bishop Dr. Indrias Rehmat and it was not less than a treasure for me at that time. I’m blessed that God answered to my prayers and I received a handcart.
Now I’m able to restart my working as I have received a blessing of occupation resource. I’m so gratefulto Caritas Pakistan Faisalabad for helping poor like me and for improving my livelihood.

The flood made me understand the true value of safety and the importance of having reliable support in times of crisis.
Nabi Bukhsh, a resident of Basti Fakhar, Moza Rasoolpur, Tehsil and District Rajanpur, and his family are among those affected by the recent floods in southwestern Punjab. Following the devastating floodwaters that destroyed their mud house, Bukhsh and his family sought refuge in the shade of trees during the day and under a Caritas Pakistan tent at night. Reflecting on their plight, Bukhsh noted, “The flood made me understand the true value of safety and the importance of having reliable support in times of crisis. While we initially relied on makeshift shelters like bed sheets and open skies, Caritas Pakistan provided us with essential aid, including shelters, plastic sheets, and hygiene kits. Their assistance has been invaluable, especially as we face the winter months. I am deeply grateful to Caritas Pakistan Multan for their support.

The kitchen set allowed me to resume cooking in a normal manner. I am thankful to Caritas Pakistan for their assistance
Mother of seven children, Ashraf Mai is a 55-year-old widow from Basti Nazar, Moza Rasoolpur, UC Jehanpur, District Rajanpur. She owned 1.5 acres of land, which her sons used for wheat production, providing a modest annual income. Ashraf Mai earned an additional income of 4,000 to 5,000 rupees every month by sewing clothing.
During the floods, Ashraf and her family were displaced from their home, leaving behind their possessions and household. In the aftermath, their neighborhood was left as a “muddy refuse site,” with “battered remains encased in thick sludge,” including broken furniture, trucks, and rafters that once supported their homes.
In response to the crisis, a survey was conducted to assess the community’s needs, including shelter, livelihood, WASH, and health. The team identified a critical need for kitchen sets, which were subsequently provided to affected families. Ashraf Mai expressed her gratitude, stating, “The kitchen set allowed me to resume cooking in a normal manner. I am thankful to Caritas Pakistan for their assistance.”

The community had been losing faith in the education system due to a lack of support
Jawad Hussaini, Mathematics Teacher at Shaheed Mir Fateh School, expresses profound gratitude to the Caritas Pakistan Islamabad-Rawalpindi KP office team for their invaluable support. Caritas Pakistan’s assistance has brought about a tremendous transformation in our educational environment. The community had been losing faith in the education system due to a lack of support from the government, and student enrolment had been constantly declining.
Thanks to Caritas Pakistan, our administration and students have experienced a significant transformation. The essential resources provided—such as furniture, uniforms, books, bags, and stationery which are of great help for all of us considering the poverty of our community.
We deeply appreciate the efforts of Mr. Gill, Mr. Shahab, and Mr. Fahad, whose dedication has greatly impacted our school. We wish Caritas Pakistan continued success and hope they continue to serve those in need without discrimination. Once again, we extend our heartfelt thanks to Caritas Pakistan and its team.

As part of an Afghan refugee Pashtun family, life has been challenging.
My name is Ujala Imran, a 5th-grade student at Shaheed Mir Fateh School in Peshawar. As part of an Afghan refugee Pashtun family, life has been challenging. My father, the sole provider for our family of six, works tirelessly selling fruits from a cart, but the financial burden of educating all of us has been overwhelming. Faced with the prospect of leaving school due to these hardships, we were given new hope when Caritas Pakistan stepped in. They provided us with uniforms, books, stationery, bags, and even school chairs, significantly easing my father’s struggles. This support has not only kept us in school but also inspired our community to believe in the power of education. I am deeply grateful to Caritas Pakistan for their ongoing support, and I pray they continue their vital work for Afghan refugees and others in need.
